Northern Brass is a professional brass quintet based in the North West of England and comprises of ex-Royal Northern College of Music Students. Northern Brass regularly delivers top-class concerts all over the country and are equally at home providing entertainment for weddings and functions.
Northern Brass has performed numerous concerts all over the United Kingdom to great acclaim including an appearance at the 2011 Great Northern Brass Arts Festival where the quintets’ two performances were described as “outstanding” by the Festival director Philip Biggs. The group have also appeared on national television (BBC Songs of Praise), national radio (BBC Radio 3) and other local radio stations around the Manchester area.
The group have also provided entertainment for many events and companies. Past clients include Selfridges, "Dirty Dancing On Tour" (Palace Theatre, Manchester), The Printworks and numerous hotels. In April 2013 the group were engaged to perform at the opening of the new Wallace and Gromit "Thrill-O-Matic" Ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Individually, Northern Brass’ members regularly work with the UK’s top orchestras including the Halle, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of Opera North, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of English National Ballet and the Manchester Concert Orchestra. Its players have also performed with all the country’s top brass bands including the Black Dyke Band, Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band and Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band.
In 2011 the group were awarded the Philip Jones Prize for Chamber Music.
The group have a number of "in-house arrangers" and can arrange any requested piece of music to suit different events. Northern Brass appreciate that every event is unique and aim to tailor our programme of music to match its setting.
